| City of Houston Survey for Historic District Repeal Underway |
|
By now all property owners within the First Montrose Commons
Historic District have received the City of Houston’s survey for historic
district repeal. Property owners who wish to preserve our historic
district should NOT fill out or return this survey, as the only option provided
for on the survey is the repeal of our historic district. Any property owner who does not return the
survey will be automatically counted by the City as a supporter of our historic
district. Therefore, the best way for
you to support the First Montrose Commons Historic District in this matter is
to take no action at all.
Please note that there is no opt-out provision on the City’s survey. This means that filling out and returning the survey will not exempt your own property from our historic district, but instead will jeopardize the existence of the entire district. Those wishing to actively support the First Montrose Commons Historic District should not send anything to the City at this time, but instead should make plans to attend the City’s meeting regarding the reconsideration of our historic district, which will be held on this Tuesday, January 18th, at the Montrose Counseling Center at 401 Branard. Please note that this meeting will begin at 6pm and not 7pm as previously reported. Many City officials are scheduled to attend this meeting, including Mayor Parker and Council Members Adams and Lovell, so property owners will have the opportunity to personally voice their support for the First Montrose Commons Historic District directly to the persons who will be ultimately responsible for deciding the fate of our district. |
